A Canadian Encounter
Harcourt House Gallery
A Canadian Encounter combines drawing and found photography with a fantastical minimalist cube in an early twentieth century photographic scene of canoeists upon a mountain river. This work attempts to map the failed modernist project on an historic image of landscape, juxtaposing 150 years of photographic recordings of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, artistic valorizations of nature, and modernist impulses.
